Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 11, 2026

Sayona ("we", "us") provides a voice-to-text browser extension and companion web dashboard. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

What we collect

When you use Sayona to dictate, we process the audio you record through your microphone. We also collect the text produced from that audio, the website or application context where you used it (for example, the platform name such as "Gmail" or "LinkedIn"), and basic account information you provide when you sign up, such as your name and email address. If you set preferences — your profession, personal dictionary terms, language settings, or other options — we store those so the product works the way you've configured it.

We do not collect the content of the web pages you visit. The extension only acts on the text fields you choose to dictate into.

How your voice and text are processed

To turn your speech into text, the audio you record is sent to AssemblyAI, a third-party transcription provider, which returns a text transcript. That transcript is then sent to our processing service, which uses Groq to clean and format the text into the final output, which is returned to you. Please note that AssemblyAI may use audio processed through its service to improve its own products and machine-learning models, as described in AssemblyAI's terms of service. Groq does not retain or train on the text we send for processing. We ourselves do not sell your data and do not use your recordings or text to train any models of our own.

How your data is protected

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by the services we use to process and store it. Our transcription provider maintains SOC 2 and GDPR compliance.

Where your data is stored

Your account information, settings, and transcription history are stored using Supabase, our database and authentication provider. Your transcription history lets you review and reuse what you've dictated from the dashboard.

How long we keep it

Audio is processed to generate a transcript and is not retained by us after processing. We retain the resulting text and your account data for as long as your account is active, so that features like transcription history and personalization work. You can delete individual transcriptions from your dashboard at any time, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

Third-party services

Sayona relies on the following third parties to function: AssemblyAI (speech-to-text transcription), Groq (text processing), Supabase (authentication and data storage), and Dodo Payments (payment processing). Each processes data only as needed to provide their service to us. When you upgrade to a paid plan, your payment is processed by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record; they handle your card details directly and we never see or store them. We encourage you to review their respective privacy practices.

Your choices

You can change your settings, delete transcriptions, and control personalization options from your dashboard at any time. You also control where Sayona is active: you can allow it on all sites and block specific ones, or restrict it to only an allowed list of sites, so the microphone button never appears where you don't want it. You can stop using the extension and remove it from your browser at any point. To request account deletion or ask a question about your data, contact us at the email below.

Children

Sayona is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above.
